The taste characteristics from the first-fill bourbon casks that permeates the majority of the aged spirit, coupled with the increased proportion of our 'designer casks' (made from slow-growth, air-dried American oak from the Ozark Mountains of Missouri), results in a delicious spirit that enhances the relaxed and convivial mood of the group by igniting the senses. The Original is, quite simply, the most delicate and deliciously complex single malt whisky in the world.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: The scent of citrus and ripening peaches is softened by the aroma of vanilla.
Taste: First, vanilla is detected on the tongue before it ripples along the palate bringing a burst of flowery fruitiness.
Finish: About a minute after tasting, you are left with a clean and salving aftertaste with hints of orange and peach.
Whiskey Advocate: 93 Points
Fresh, vibrant, and beautifully complex. A clean, malty foundation accentuated by bright complex fruit, delicate spice, dried flowers, and gentle honeyed vanilla notes that linger on the palate. This is a wonderful whisky which is very versatile, but I can only imagine what it would taste like at 46% and unchill-filtered like the wood finish expressions.
